3D X-ray Imaging

3D X-Ray Imaging

xray1We provide you with the best possible dental care, which is why we are pleased to have a GALILEOS® 3D Dental Conebeam X-ray system at Timberlake Dental. It is a major step forward in dental care for it provides exact, 3-dimensional data and imaging.

Professional dental care requires exacting understanding of both the shape and orientation of teeth and gums as well as the interaction of teeth with each other and with caries, fractures, and other physical changes that threaten oral health. Having the ability to review exact images and process data for these 3-dimensional relationships is therefore a significant advancement in our ability to provide excellent care.

This isn’t an ordinary x-ray machine. On the contrary, it provides 3-dimensional (3D) x-ray images in an easy-to-use approach that allows us to diagnose problems and plan treatments with much more accuracy and reliability. In a nutshell, it provides the following advantages:

  • Scans of the mouth, face, and jaw are completed quickly and comfortably
  • The unit uses the least radiation possible
  • Procedures with this unit are more secure and take less time than other techniques
  • Scans from the unit are provided immediately to support diagnosis and treatment planning during a single visit
  • Images are easily shared with other doctors

xray2Advanced Technology

The GALILEOS® 3D Dental Conebeam system is manufactured by Sirona, the world’s largest dental technology manufacturer. Sirona makes use of advanced diagnostic X-ray imaging technology to enhance safety and effectiveness in the treatment of dental patients with a number of treatment techniques, such as orthodontics, endodontics, oral/maxillofacial surgery, periodontics, and implantology.

The software provides displays and visualization features that enable dentists to vastly improve the quality of treatments. These features enhance coordinating treatment planning with colleagues, explaining treatments to patients with vastly improved accuracy and clarity, and planning surgical procedures.

Comprehensive Diagnostic & Treatment Planning Capability

xray3The GALILEOS® 3D Dental Conebeam system uses Cone Beam Computed Tomography (CBCT) to provide 3-dimensional imaging of the oral and maxillofacial area from any orientation. The amount of radiation used for each scan is small – equivalent to 4 bitewing x-rays from traditional x-ray systems. A GALILEOS scan, which takes only 14 seconds, offers a broad spectrum of image types to maximize the diagnostic and treatment planning value of these images: panoramic, 3D, cross sectional sliced (also called Transversal Slice Acquisition or TSA), and cephalometric (relating to the spacial relationships of the teeth, jaws, and cranium) images. The Sirona 3D technology offers much more than the traditional x-ray imaging technology by processing a massive volume of 3D image data from 200 exposures or more gathered from a series of scans taken during a single session of 15 seconds or less. The GALILEOS system displays these multiple image results with high quality imaging and provides, in addition, an easy-to-use control software system.

For Your Dental Health – Top Notch X-ray Technology

With this advanced GALILEOS system Dr. Chowning can reliably make the appropriate decisions for diagnosing and planning your treatment, transfer the GALILEOS data to other systems as necessary to accurately provide, as examples, implants and crowns, transfer the data to other health professionals as needed, and, just as importantly, provide you with easy–to-understand imaging of what we plan to do or have done improve your dental health.
