Commentary:
People around the world are suffering quite heavily from dental disease, particularly related to gum disease and tooth decay. In a recent article in the Journal of Dental Research by the University of London, it was reported that 3.9 billion people around the world suffer from some form of oral disease. The article describes that a shift has occurred over time in that not as many people now are losing teeth. They are however, still having significant issues with gum disease and cavities.
