Commentary:

According to this article, consumption of sugared soda drinks has increased by 500 percent in the past 50 years in the US.    The US Department of Agriculture has reported that sodas are the biggest source of sugar in the diets of Americans and are considered one of the top causes of childhood obesity.  In Great Britain, a recent study found that consumers there aren’t faring much better on this topic.  It appears that many consumers overestimate how many calories are in obviously fattening sugared drinks, but underestimate the caloric content of supposedly “heathly” drinks such as fruit juices and sports drinks.
