Commentary:
This is the 4th annual National Dental Hygiene Month, sponsored by the American Dental Hygienists’ Association (ADHA) and the Wm. Wrigley Jr. Company (makers of Orbit® sugar-free gum). The program includes, as explained in this article, community service grants of $2,500 and $5,000 to promote community oral health improvement projects. The article also details the ADHAs suggestions for good dental hygiene: “Brush. Floss. Rinse. Chew.” The “chew” part by the way calls for chewing sugar-free gum – not sugar based gum.
