Commentary:
According to this article by the American Dental Association, Dr. Benjamin, the US Surgeon General, made her endorsement with a letter that was read to National Oral Health Conference attendees in Huntsville, Alabama. She indicated that Fluoridation’s effectiveness in preventing tooth decay extends to both children and adults and has resulted in continually improving dental health for each generation that has benefited from it.
Each surgeon general for the past 50 years has endorsed community water fluoridation and it has enjoyed approval by the American Dental Association since 1950.
