So what does it mean when a dentist says you have an abscessed tooth? This article answers that question explaining what it is and what your dentist may do to treat it. The hard enamel tooth surface does an excellent job of protecting and structurally strengthening a tooth, but the soft inside, the pulp, is susceptible to infection if it gets a chance to take hold under that hard enamel.
