It is perhaps a new concept to you that chewing gum (the sugarless kind) can actually improve your dental health, as described by this article.  This is true, and is a suggestion supported by the  American Dental Association (ADA).  The caution here, however, is to only use sugarless chewing gum approved by the ADA.
