This past month, Dr. Chowning had the incredible opportunity to go and serve in Guatemala, with a organization called ServingHIM, to provide free healthcare to those in need. Dr. Chowning has been serving with this team since 2008 and has become very passionate about this work. This clinic that the team worked in, has been built from the ground up. What started as free services in lawn chairs, is now advanced to a fully functioning clinic, thanks to the hard efforts of Dr. Dick and Karen McFarland. The medical team consisted of 4 dentists and 1 hygienists. The team served, not only in medical, but also in many other areas. They held a VBS kids program that had a turnout of 500 children, a women’s conference with 300 women, and a men’s conference with 100 men. Throughout their time in Guatemala, the team lived out this verse,
Acts 20:35 “In everything I did, I showed you that by this kind of hard work we must help the weak, remembering the words the Lord Jesus himself said: ‘It is more blessed to give than to receive.’ “.
As providers, we strive to also live daily by this verse and we pray that you not only feel blessed by us, but that you actively seek to bless others around you too.
