Here in the US, one in 25 cancers are caused in some way by infection, as the original ailment. In third world countries, this ratio is as high as one in every four cancers, according to a recent study in the Lancet Oncology, a medical journal. Apparently, the lack of effective sanitation and medical treatment of certain dangerous infections, such as Hepatitis B, are related to this high incidence of cancer.
