Commentary:
While it is true that chewing gum is not digested by your intestinal tract, it won’t, as some wives’s tales indicate, sit there for 7 years. It is simply passed on through your system without any noticeable impact. Swallowing a good deal of it, however, can be a problem, so children should refrain from swallowing gum as a habit.
