Your stomach will growl as a part of normal digestion of your food. This can occur when you’re hungry but it can also happen in between meals.
Your appetite and hunger are controlled by a complicated interaction of nerve signals and hormones that control the digestive tract. Just thinking about food (or seeing it or smelling it) can stimulate this system to anticipate a meal, creating the a growl from the stomach as the digestive system sets up to digest the food.
Stomach growling can also be a symptom of other ailments but with this type of thing, these other ailments will have other symptoms associated with them.
