What to Know When Choosing a Toothbrush
Determining what toothbrush to get can be a challenging thing for those of us who may not know what to look for. Here are a few tips to help you navigate the aisles and find a toothbrush that will effectively clean your teeth.
How to Choose a Toothbrush
- The general adult-size toothbrush should be 1/2 inch wide at the head and 1 inch tall. Larger sizes make it more difficult to reach back molars and smaller sizes are less effective in cleaning.
- It is best to use a brush with soft nylon bristles, as the medium and hard bristles can be harmful to your teeth’s enamel.
- Rounded bristles are recommended over straight ones, as their edges are not as sharp and won’t damage gums as much.
Still Unsure?
If you are still struggling to determine what toothbrush to get, search for ones with ADA approval (American Dental Association) or ask your dentist for further recommendations.
